Baby Shower

My sweet friends from church decided to throw me a baby shower this weekend!! I really was blessed by the whole thing! I am still amazed that these girls would put so much work into this when they have only known me since we arrived 5 months ago. It is so nice to have family away from family who are willing to go all out for someone they haven't known for very long!

Here I am with my 33 1/2 week belly! We had a guess the size of Robin's belly game where each person had to cut a string the length they thought I was around. Some people were a little ambitious! Maybe if I was having septuplets?? I guess I have a little over 6 weeks to go still...we will see!

Completed Projects

Just wanted to post a couple of pictures of projects I have recently completed. I had a lot of fun making them!The stuffed owl and elephant were by far the most work, but I think they came out cute!

Also made a daddy and baby matching beanie! :)

I am almost done with my blanket, so I will be posting that soon!

Cool Front

As we call it in Texas, a "cool front" has made its way to London! It is currently 60 degrees and sunny. A perfect fall day! I think I will go for a walk as to not miss out on this glorious day! Do wish I had a car at this point because walking long distances is getting tougher for me.

I have officially accepted that summer has come and gone (all 2 weeks of 85 degree weather we had here). BUT, that means that we are entering in to the fall season...yes my friends, the season that my little boy will be born in! I really can't believe it. We only have 8 weeks from Friday until the due date and are so excited about meeting him we can't stand it!

I am almost done with all the books I set out to read and almost done with the 2 stuffed toys (an owl and an elephant) and blanket I am making for him. I will post pictures soon when I get them done.

I am trying to cherish these last couple months of being by myself during the day. That will not be the case for many many years...a very bizarre feeling indeed.

I will post more belly pics soon if Jared will take some this weekend (It is getting quite large!)! Hope everyone has a great day!

Carnival

Yesterday Jared and I decided to check out the Notting Hill Carnival. We heard that it was supposed to be one of the biggest events in the city every year. We also heard it was more fun than Mardi Gras. Online the website boasts great costumes and Calypso music with live steel pan, etc. We headed out around 12:00, and when we arrived, we greeted a mass of humanity walking towards the parade route. We heard loud Caribbean music, and figured we were heading in the right direction. As soon as we walked up to the parade route, we saw this...

A few people in t-shirts on a truck with massive speakers blasting music. They were just sitting there. A few people were in the streets dancing and way too many people had purchased whistles and horns and were blowing them non-stop. The only thing that saved the day was the food. We had some jerk chicken and roasted corn, and also had a coconut water. It was pretty

good, and we were glad we went to see what all the hype was about, but next year, if we are here, we will be skipping it. Here are a few photos that Jared took while we were there (one of the main reasons we went was for Jared to test out his new camera outside!)

Here is the first picture from Jared's new camera! It documents the wonderful breakfast that we have been enjoying for almost 3 years now! I never thought I would be one of those people who had certain foods they ate for years. I just like more variety than that ya know? But, this is so tasty that neither Jared or I have gotten sick of it yet! Only time will tell!

Jared's long overdue birthday present

So we finally received Jared's birthday present in the mail today! I took forever, but I am hoping it will be totally worth it! I got him the Canon 500 D/Rebel T1i camera with lens kit. We are really excited to have a nice camera to take pictures of the little munchkin as well as England and any other countries we may visit before returning to the states. Jared and I both have a desire to actually learn how to use it, and not just leave it on auto mode, so hopefully I will be posting some pics soon! Sorry J that it took sooo long to get here. Blame it on Hong Kong!

Wedding

Last night we got to play in a wedding for some very new friends of ours out here, Jo and Dave Dent (I got to play flute, Jared on cajon, and our friend Lizzie played guitar and sang). It is amazing to see how God has allowed us such close friends in such a short amount of time! The first time I met Jo, she was so sweet and has been ever since. Dave is hilarious but also extremely down to earth. Their wedding was an incredible testimony of how God transforms 2 people over their individual lifetimes through His grace and redemption, and amazing parents and friends, and then they meet and have such an incredible relationship.
