Royal Festival Hall

This weekend, Jared and I got to go to a really cool concert in the Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic! We chose this concert because it was a film based on a story that a physicist had written (based on the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus...boy disobeys father and flies too close to the sun with wings and dies because the wax melts). The physicist had adapted the story to a modern day re-telling of a boy in space who tries to fly too near a black hole...he doesn't die, but rather makes a great scientific discovery (but there are other consequences). The London Phil performed the score composed by Philip Glass (the main reason we bought tickets!). We got to see Philip Glass conduct Koyaanisqatsi last summer at the Hollywood Bowl, so it was neat to compare the two performances. (I have to say I might have preferred the LA Phil...don't tell!). Here is a video I took of the inside of the hall before the concert. Amateur video, but cool sea creatures flying around!
