Homemade pasta!

Last night I got to make homemade ravioli with friends! It was so much fun! I had never made my own pasta before. The kitchen aid mixer recipe was super easy and delicious! And if you have the pasta attachment it makes life a little easier. I can't imagine rolling out the pasta myself! Anyway, I hope to do it again sometime....never alone, though, it would be very tiring and lonely!

Off to the library to finish my paper!!!!!

2 weeks to go!

My recital is in 2 weeks! Ahhhh! Just Kidding! I had a great practice session today for about 4 hours that made me feel better about my music. I am so excited to see everyone from out of town and people in town that I never get to see!

On another note, my thesis first draft is due Wednesday and I am about half way done with the paper. I am devoting Saturday to writing in the library for at least 4 hours to try and knock out the rest. Then all I will have left is editing!

I am going to try and have fun this weekend, too! I am going to a pasta party Friday night and my cousin's 30th birthday party in Pomona Saturday night! I can't wait! I feel like I have been holding my breath up until these deadlines, so I need to have a small break before I get there! No play and all work makes Robin a stir crazy girl!

Have a great weekend everybody!

Here is an interesting quote about Atheism from Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem.

"He knows no cause for anything, even his own existence. He has no hope for himself in time or eternity. When he denies the existence of God it is by an assumption of knowledge which transcends the limitations which his negative creed allows."

How often have I been led to think exactly like this concerning my life? My goals, ambitions,or even day to day choices....do they always acknowledge the existence of God and a hope for an eternal life spent with Him? Or, do they reveal my assumption that I know best?

This is tough to swallow...

YOGA

I guess I am silly and quickly forget how awesome my body feels when I do yoga. I hadn't gone to a class or practiced in a couple months, but yesterday I decided to pop in one of my DVD's. It was crunch yoga, which was super fast paced. Every pose goes in and out of downward dog, so you are never relaxing. I wanted to post the pose for those of you how aren't familiar. This is why it is called downward dog!
I was sweating like a mo-fo and it felt amazing! I have now made a new goal to practice yoga atleast 3 times a week with a full video, and do a few poses on the other days for breathing. The breathing and stretching helps my flute playing so much as well. Feel free to check in on me and ask me how it is going!
I am also trying to get my parents to start practicing. Does anyone know of any good beginner yoga DVD's?
Posting this makes me want to do a few downward dogs and tree poses before I go to community group!
Peace! :)

paper starting time!

So I have been saying I am going to start my paper for a few days now, but I finally have all of my sources printed and I am ready to start writing. I think I am going to head down to the library by the beach later to get in a place where I can be more focused. I tend to start doing chores and such when I am at home. Luckily I got most of them done yesterday so I don't have much to distract myself with! I know I will get this paper done, it is just a matter of actually starting it! My goal today is to get the first two sections on paper (More of the intro and bio info of my composer) which won't be too difficult. I also need to practice a bit today because I learned in my lesson yesterday that I have a lot to fix on one piece! Wish me luck!

I am also hoping to enjoy a Guinness with Jared later!
Happy St. Patty's day!

Dogsitting

Hello all!
Sorry it has been awhile! I just haven't felt like I have had anything to write about recently.
My good friends Katie and Andrew recently got a dog...so cute! And they are out of town this week in Costa Rica with her fam, so we are dogsitting this weekend. I am trying to make sure to take the dog out every few hours so she doesn't have an accident.! She is still only 4 months old or so. Last night she was so good and slept the entire night! Unfortunately, getting up at 7:00 on a Saturday to let her out to go pee isn't my idea of an ideal Saturday, but I kind of dozed off on the couch afterward. Jared is at work today, so it doesn't feel like Saturday ayway!

I think I am going to go look for shoes and jewelry to wear for my recital dress today!

On another note, this week has been kind of lonely because I have been working so much at home on my paper and practicing for my recital. You gotta do what you gotta do, but I need to get out today and go shopping a little! Have a wonderful day!

The Third Wave

Jared and I were able to go see an independent film Sunday with our friends Corey and Kimberly. He got tickets from work (The Red Cross). I had no idea what to expect. The theater was at The Director's Guild in LA. The festival was The City of Angels Film Festival. The guy running the whole festival was really nice and introduced the movie and said we would have some people from the film to answer questions after the movie. The movie started and I began to wonder who would be there after the film.

The entire movie was a about a few people's journey to Sri Lanka after the Tsunami in 2004. They each had the guts to pick up a first aid kit and fly to Sri Lanka not knowing where they would end up. All they knew was that they had to go there to help. The directors of the film (and main two volunteers) were from New York and one hilarious volunteer was from Australia. They all ended up in a village and set up a small first aid station there. To make a long story short, they all ended up staying there for 5 months, a lot of crazy stuff happens while they are there, and then the directors of the film ended up going back for two more years. They were not intending to make a movie from the footage they took, but it is such a powerful and life-changing story, that they had to spread the word about what happened and is still happening in this village. The directors ended up being the people there to answer questions after the film. It was so crazy to see these people in the flesh after watching what they had been through in the movie. I don't want to give away too much of the movie because I hope it will eventually get funding to open in theaters across the country and you can see it too! But, in the meantime, please visit their website!

The Third Wave Movie

I am still processing the film and how I have been effected by it. I no longer care to see something, be effected emotionally, but not change anything in my life. More to come!
